quality websites

Quality websites with Buddhist discussion?

I’ve become infatuated with Buddhism, it’s such an interesting religion/philosophy and I’d love to develop a deeper understanding. I’ve already gone over the basics on wikipedia, read some articles, videos, ect. Are there any quality websites worth looking into with a discussion section?

There are two primary Buddhist discussion groups on the Web:

E-Sangha: http://www.e-sangha.com/
Zen Buddhism Community: http://community.livejournal.com/zen_buddhists/

Of these, E-Sangha is by far the largest. Personally, I avoid both these sites as they attract people who like to argue points of doctrine – and the mind that likes to "pick and choose" is far away from Buddhism. But if you’re mindful of that tendency, you can find useful information on these sites.

Other interesting Web resources include:

Buddhist Peace Fellowship – good articles on peace and social justice

http://bpf.org/html/home.html

WZEN.org – webcasts of talks

http://wzen.org/

Zen Mountain Monastery – links to talks and instructions

http://www.mro.org/zmm/teachings/

Kwan Um School of Zen – library of teachings

You might also enjoy visiting some of the wonderful Buddhist blogs – where there is discussion and sharing of views in a respectful manner. A few great ones include:

NOT2WO: http://blog.not2wo.com/
Wild Fox Zen: http://wildfoxzen.blogspot.com/
Aging As Spiritual Practice: http://agingasaspiritualpractice.com/

And (blush!) my own blog, Ox Herding: http://www.oxherding.com/my_weblog/

Are there some good quality websites which publish the articles of young writers for free?

I wanted to publish my articles on such a website which is for free but is of good quality and used by many and has many options for chosing the topics. Any suggestuions?

Go to: www.associatedcontent.com
It’s a site for writers of all kind. You can write for other people (requests from others) or just any topic you want. Once you’re older (over the age of 18) you can even get paid.

Three Ways to Get Top Quality Content for Your Niche Websites

Three Ways to Get Top Quality Content for Your Niche Websites

Good, popular, profitable niche topic websites need good
content. Period. You and I both know this.

Now, there are many ways to get content online…

1. You can hire freelance writers, and have them create custom
content to be used by you exclusively. This is the best way to
get content, because if you choose your writers well, you can
get decent content on the topic of your choice. And chances are
pretty slim that anyone else online will have the exact same
content you have. The cheapest rate I’ve seen this service at
though, is $4 per article. Usually it’s more like $10 and up per
article if you want good content. So a mere 20 articles will
cost you at least two hundred bucks!

2. Another great way to get content online though, is to join
membership sites like Nicheology and Push Button Health. These
sites give you a steady flow of rough draft content for one set
price each month. The content usually needs some work, but it’s
generally worth it for the price paid. The catch though, is that
these sites are usually filled to their limit. So if you want to
join, you’ll find yourself waiting in line… sometimes for over
6 months!

The other problem with membership sites is the number of people
who have access to the exact same content. Nicheology for
instance, limits the number of active members to 1500. That’s
1499 other people besides yourself who have access to the exact
same content. BUT… that’s not including all of the previous
members who ALSO had access to that content… and it’s not
including all of the new members who will come around in the
future. They’ll have access to that same content as well.

3. Now, one more excellent way to get website content is through
free article distribution websites and mailing lists. You can
literally get thousands upon thousands of articles completely
free this way. There’s a couple of catches to this method
though… First: You have to keep the author’s name on the
article. You’re not allowed to change or edit the article.
Usually you’re not even allowed to link to one of your websites,
pages or affiliate programs from within the article either. Then
you have to include the “bio box” at the end of the article.
This – by the way – tends to be an advertisement of some sort.
And last but not least: You have to link to the author’s
website. And in many cases, you have to link to several of the
author’s websites.

Oh yeah… one more thing about these free articles: Since
they’re free – tens of thousands of other websites use them too!

Putting quality content on your website will help bring in
relevant, targeted traffic. And that usually brings in more
clicks… and more sales. Hopefully the above brief comparison
helps you understand the different ways to get content for your
site. Study them fully, and choose which one works best for you,
your site needs, and your budget.

How to Embed High Quality & High Definition (HD) YouTube Videos Into Blogs, Websites, Forums, etc

http://YouTubeSecretWeapon.com –

NOTE: UPDATED BLOG POST: It is no longer necessary to hack the YouTube embed code to offer the high-quality (HQ) version of YouTube videos on web pages and blogs. YouTube now does it for you by offering the option to watch a video in high quality IN the embedded player itself. An HQ button now pops up inside the embedded video player whenever a high quality video is played. Hovering over the button will allow you to see that clicking it will offer the video in higher quality.

Below is the OLD write-up for this video:

How to embed high-quality and/or high-definition (HD) videos from YouTube into your blogs, websites, or other online venues.

This video tutorial covers video embeds. Most specifically, it deals with how to obtain the high-quality or high-definition playback of YouTube videos when they are embedded on blogs or websites outside of YouTube.

For those who are unaware, the HQ or HD playback option links on YouTube appear beneath the video player screens — just above the area showing views.

To get the videos to embed in those playback formats, the following code is necessary:

High Quality: &ap=%2526fmt%3D18
High Definition: &ap=%2526fmt%3D22

This code needs to fit into embed code just in front of the end-quotation on both portions of the code which falls between the quotations.

Additionally, this video touches on how to get rid of the YouTube “Search Videos” bar that now (often by default) AND the “related” or “recommended videos” that come up once a video has ended in embedded video content.

A couple other pointers are given here with regard to customizing the embed video players both by size and by the appearance of the players (with or without colored borders around them).

Note: For people with slower or NON high-speed Internet connections, these high quality and HD videos may take longer to load and therefore could play slower or choppier. This is especially true of HD videos. Please be aware of this when embedding these on your blog or website — it may make the viewing experience more difficult for some visitors.
